Sunday 23rd - Jetski ablaze

Both boats launched today (Sunday) at 1225pm to a report of a jetski on fire to the West of Bournemouth Pier. When the boats arrived on scene they found that the two people whom were on the jet ski had been taken ashore by RNLI Beach rescue to an awaiting ambulance, and the jetski was engulfed in flames.

The lifeboats job was to set up an 100 yard exclusion zone around the jetski which was about a quarter of a mile from the shore. As the Jetski was not floating towards the beach and not savagable as this late stage it was decided to let it burn, as there was a risk of it exploding as nobody was sure about the amount of petrol it had in its tank thankfuly it eventually it sank and both boats returned to station.

The ILB went out later at about 1800hrs to assist a swimmer in trouble of East Looe.
