Car crash in Holes Bay

The ILB launched to a report of an upturned car in Holes
Bay. When they arrived on scene 4 casualties were being treated
by paramedics on the shore. There was Fire brigade in the water
around the silver Mitsubishi car attempting to gain access with
"Jaws of life" as a fifth person was missing, he had been
in the back seat of the car. The ILB had a quick search around the
car then proceeded to do a parallel search of the area using a search
light, some 100ft away from the vehicle they found the missing person.
The ILB helmsman, Gavin, entered the water and pulled the casualty
to the surface and towards the shore where he was assisted by the
Fire Brigade. The casualty was passed immediately to the paramedics
who commenced CPR.
The ILB continued searching the area until all casualties were
accounted for. The ILB returned to station.
