Car crash in Holes Bay

0110

The ILB launched to a report of an upturned car in Holes Bay. When they arrived on scene 4 casualties were being treated by paramedics on the shore. There was Fire brigade in the water around the silver Mitsubishi car attempting to gain access with "Jaws of life" as a fifth person was missing, he had been in the back seat of the car. The ILB had a quick search around the car then proceeded to do a parallel search of the area using a search light, some 100ft away from the vehicle they found the missing person.

The ILB helmsman, Gavin, entered the water and pulled the casualty to the surface and towards the shore where he was assisted by the Fire Brigade. The casualty was passed immediately to the paramedics who commenced CPR.

The ILB continued searching the area until all casualties were accounted for. The ILB returned to station.
