Both Boats were launched to a suspected yacht on fire near to the Parkstone yacht club starting platform.When the boat arrived on scene black smoke was billowing out of the cabin of the 13metre yacht "Thais".

The crew had abandoned ship and taken refuge on a harbour patrol boat that was in the vicinity.

After assessing the situation, the crew removed the gas bottles and petrol cans and made the boat save.

As their was no visible flames the fire hose was not used, the
ALB towed the stricken yacht to Ballast quay where the fire
brigade checked the yacht over, It was suspected that the yacht
had a severely overheated gear box. After the fire brigade gave
the yacht the all clear the ALB towed it back to its moorings.
