Squaring up to the Pirates....

The All weather Lifeboat was out on a PR Exercise escorting the Mayor, the admiral of the port and other dignitaries during the Beating of the Bound.

This is a very old tradition in Poole, and quite a colourful pageant, a fritilla of boats sail around the harbour inspecting and reaffirming the boundaries, but also being very alert as there are pirates about...

During this the ALB was tasked to assist a recovery of a person with a spine injury on a speed boat in shell bay, When the ALB arrived they found the speed boat in the surf on the beach. Four of the crew jumped off the bow of the ALB to help the paramedics retrieve the person from the speed boat to the waiting ambulance, The crew were jumped back on board and the Lifeboat rejoined the procession of boats and sized up to some pirates between the quays...

All dressed up for the Beating of the Bounds.

It was a glorious day....
