The Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 1205 to assist a 28ft Bayliner boat "Dreamboat II" with 3 people onboard in the Swash Channel,1/4 mile outside the entrance of the harbour. When the ILB had reached the entrance of the harbour, Portland Coastguard retasked the ILB to a wind surfer who had got into difficulty at Whitely Lake. The windsurfer was spotted clinging onto a temporary mooring buoy. The ILB took the exhausted windsurfer onboard, checked that he didn't require any medical attention then took him and his rig safely ashore. The ILB then proceeded to the original "shout" the 28ft Bayliner in the Swash but it was flagged down by a small Cabin Cruiser "Osprey" which had engine failure in the vicinity of no.12 buoy, with 3 people onboard. The casualty was taken under tow by the ILB and they all proceeded to the original casualty, and took both boats to Mitchell's boatyard where they were landed safely.

It was going to be one of those days... The ILB Helmsman heard a report of a person in difficulty at Shell Bay Beach and made his way there as quickly as possible. They found a man had been pulled ashore by a member of the public. He had injured himself riding a jet ski and was semi-conscious. The crew started first aid but informed the Coastguard that a helicopter was needed to evacuate him. The ILB took charge of the jet ski once the evacuation had taken place. On their way back to the Station they spotted a person in the water and found another windsurfer who was exhausted. They took him on board and assessed him as requiring medical assistance, so they asked the Coastguard to arrange an ambulance. The casualty was handed over to the ambulance at Salterns marina. The ILB proceeded back to the Station still towing a jet ski. At the Station they had their last rescue of the day as they found a yacht stuck by the fast ebbing tide against Poole Town Bridge. Having pulled the yacht clear they were able to rehouse the ILB. All in all the ILB had been away from the Station for just over 5 hours and conducted a total of 7 rescues.
