Sun 14 April

The Inshore Lifeboat was on exercise when it was tasked at 1130 by the Coastguard to investigate a report of 3 boys in a broken down speedboat near Canford Cliffs. The boys and their boat were quickly found. The boat had come ashore on the beach at Canford Cliffs where there was no road access. The decision was taken to tow them back to their boatyard as that would be the best way to ensure their safety.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched again at 1958. The Coastguard had received a report that some personnel effects, including clothing, had been found at Southborne beach. There was suspicion that someone had gone into the water and got into difficulty. The ILB searched from the chain ferry to Bournemouth Pier and then conducted a joint search with Mudeford Lifeboat down to Hengistbury Head. Nothing was found. The ILB was away from the Station conducting the search for nearly two and a half hours.
