ASDA POOLE DONATES TO RNLI FOR VITAL CREW TRAINING

The ASDA store in Poole has donated £250 to the RNLI stationed in the town to help raise vital funds for crew training. Being the busiest coastal station in the UK over the last 4 years has meant the station has needed to recruit volunteers each year, who then need to embark on a strict training regime.
Lisa Rush, ASDA George Manager and Events Coordinator, and Angie Birch went along to the station in November to hand over the donation and meet the gallant team members who volunteer there. They were also treated to a tour of one of the boats by Poole RNLI Coxswain Jonathan Clark.

And, to make sure those already onboard are kept smiling during the cold months, the ASDA colleagues also put together some Winter warmer packs for the crew. The packs included packs of Fisherman’s Friends, trusty lipsalve, hand cream and an all important treat of doughnuts – to keep those sugar levels up of course!

Jonathan and the crew explained to the colleagues about the running of the station, the boats used in a rescue, as well as discussing the importance of being quick, smart and working as a team – just as the colleagues at an ASDA store must be.

Keith Moore, General Store Manager at ASDA Poole comments: ‘The RNLI plays an important part in our community with volunteers who devote their spare time to run and keep it the success it is. Raising funds is hard work for all the volunteers so we wanted to help out.
The crew members are always popping in for doughnuts so we thought we’d take the treat to them this time!’
