World Cup Visits Poole Quay - April 9th 2004.

The Rugby World Cup, the Webb Ellis Trophy, arrived at Poole quay on a Sunseeker aptly called "Sweet Chariot" as part of its tour of the country.

Escorted by two white-gloved heavily built minders it was reputedly insured for £48 million!

There was just enough time for photo with the crews of Poole and Weymouth (a few kids got in too - the crews aren't THAT young!).

Weymouth Lifeboat crew then took the Cup aboard their severn class Lifeboat to continue its journey around the country and both Poole Lifeboats escorted them to the harbour entrance.
